Results of the december fun-fly held on sunday the 15th december. The last club Fun-Fly competition started at 12:30. There was 8 hardy
competitors and a number of equally hardy and willing spectators at the
club site. The weather turned out to be excellent for the competition
with a dry day with little wind. It was however quite cold as a number
of people commented on during the day. This however did not dent the
enthusiasim of the competitors. The competition consisted of 5 events. · Spot Landing :- The contestant had to take off and do a single circuit of the field and then land. Once the wheels had touched the ground the engine throtle could not be used. The distance from the cone marking the spot to the spinner of the plane was then measured. The person with the shortest distance won. · Longest Glide :- A 15 second climb out was timed from the moment the wheels of the plane moved. The engine had then to be killed and the throtle stick left at full to ensure the engine was dead. The person with the longest glide while still landing within the confines of the field won. · Taxiing –bottle knock :- In this event the competitor was required to manouvre their plane through two gates denoted by two cones at approximately 5 feet (1800mm) centres and knock the bottle at the end. The competitor was required to stand at the starting cone throughout the event. The person with the quickest time won.
There was also a raffle for everyone at the field and this was won by P Hickey. Some photographs taken on the day can be seen here. |
