April 2003 Fly-in Report
Following on the success of last years event, Shannon
Model Flying Club hosted a control-line fly-in on Saturday, 12th April.
Once again, there was a good turn out with flyers coming from all parts
of the country. A dry, but cold day ensured that flying continued without
interruption. A wide variety of models were flown ranging from beautiful
stunters to state –of-the-art (high revving/high speed) Russian
combat models. A welcome visitor was Joe Just (AMA 5167), all the way
from the west coast of America. Joe is a control-line enthusiast, a kit
manufacturer and a collector of model aircraft engines. We had a fascinating
chat with him. One of the photos below shows a view of his production
line. The other photo shows some of the flyers and their models. Included
from left to right are; Dermot O’Flynn, Shannon; John Hamilton,
Belfast; Paul Brennan, Dublin; Kevin Barry, Cork; Eanna Healy, Dublin;
Stu Holland, Dublin; Philip Jones, Shannon; Richard O’Brien, Cork
and Ralph McCarthy, Cork.
