 F L Y I N G   R U L ES

   
   
 
1.   Inishcullin Hill, Shannon, is the clubs official flying field.
2. Club members shall abide by the wishes of the owner, Shannon Free Airport Development Company (S.F.A.D.C.O.) and rules of Air Traffic Control (A.T.C.) Shannon, in the use of our recognised flying area. Flying must not commence on any given day until ATC have been notified and clearance obtained. ATC must be notified when flying finishes at end of day. This rule applies to all models including Control-Line.
3.   The flying field is divided into two areas, the aircraft flightline and the helicopter hovering area. Neither type of model may intrude into the airspace of the other when models are flying. On the last twenty minutes of every hour, the aircraft flightline will be reserved for helicopter flying. If, during this time, the helicopters are using the aircraft flightline, no fix-wing aircraft may fly. No more than 4 models may be in the air over the Aircraft Flight-line at any one time.
4.                  Free flight models of any description shall not be allowed to fly at Inishcullin Hill.
5.                Frequency peg to be taken by flier before switching on Transmitter and be replaced at the end of flying session. No flier shall hold more than one peg at any one time. Where more than one flier uses a peg, flights should alternate. If alternate flier is unable to commence flight within 10 minutes peg should be released to next flier.
6.                  When full sized aircraft are approaching the field, model planes must land or circle at very low altitude until area is clear
7.                  Low flying near the pit area or towards people on the airfield shall be deemed dangerous and the pilot shall be reported to the committee for disciplinary action if necessary. Models must not fly over the clubhouse, car park areas or the road that skirts the flying field.
8.                  Any action of an R.C. pilot that results in a complaint by an SFADCo or ATC Official, which is subsequently upheld by the Club Committee, shall be deemed dangerous and dealt with by the committee accordingly.
9.                  On a landing pattern, the RC pilot shall shout "landing" or "dead stick" to warn others.
10.            

Take-off / landing direction will be determined by wind direction and all flyers must operate in the same direction. Where there is no wind blowing, all flyers must operate in an agreed direction.

11.             All models are to be oriented in the pits area such that the flier is facing the runway at all times.
12.             Helicopters when started in the pit area must be carried to a point at least 20 ft. away before taking off. When the flight is finished, they must be landed 20 ft. away from the pit area and carried back to the pits.
13.             Control line flyers must use a safety strap on the handle at all times when flying.
14.             At all times, an effective silencer shall be used to comply with 84dB average at ten metres.
15.             No visitors shall be allowed to fly without first presenting proof of MACI approved insurance to a Senior Club Member.
16.             All flying over the De Beers Complex and playing fields is strictly prohibited.
17.             All members on the flying field shall comply with directions given by Committee members for safer flying.
18.             All flying is prohibited when grass cutting is taking place.
19.             No Pilot may fly unsupervised unless the holder of an A or B Certificate in accordance with current M.A.C.I regulations.
20.             Any or all of the Club Committee shall enforce these rules.

For the purposes of rule 19 the definition of a supervisor is “a member with a minimum of a MACI ‘A’ Certificate who will observe the pilots actions on a one to one basis”
